The Award is financed through a fund established in Switzerland.
The aim of the Award is to promote and propagate artistic expression in Bulgaria in the field of visual arts and to focus in particular on the younger generation.
The Award is granted annually to a young and to an advanced artist, within the framework of a competition.
In 2011, the members of the jury for the "Gaudenz B. Ruf Award" are:

At their meeting end of April, the jury selected the following artists to be included in the shortlist 2011:

Advanced Artists:

Samuil Stoyanov, Dobrich
Peter Tsanev, Sofia
Veronika Tsekova, Sofia
They will be presented in a catalogue and an exhibition at the Gallery Rayko Aleksiev which will open on 3rd October. On this day the winners of the awards in the two categories will be announced.
